Grant ID P2023-01626_Energi
Grant Description

Developing transparent and durable lightharvesting solutions is vital for reducing building energy consumption, by converting passive structures into active energy harvestors, Direct plasmonic lightharvesters developed by Peafowl is a patented technology that enables energy harvesting with maintained transparency - ideal for dynamic window applications.

Currently, dynamic windows lack practical self-powering solutions, which prevents their implementation.

Through this project, plasmonic lightharvesters will be combined with VELUX' dynamic roof windows, enabling self-powered tinting of windows without the need of external wires - thus resolving a major obstacle for dynamic windows as it opens up for easier integration as well as retroinstallations.

The project will involve increasing the area of Peafowl's plasmonic lightharvesters and to evaluate them incorporated in a demonstrator at VELUX' site, thereby providing self-powered dynamic windows through plasmonics.
