Green hydrogen offers a clean and versatile solution to combat climate change and to achieve a sustainable energy system. However, the increasing demand for electrolyzers to produce hydrogen cannot be met due to the lack of large-scale production methods for crucial components including the key component Membrane Electrode Assemblies (MEAs) which today represent >30% of production costs of electrolyzers.
Enhancing energy conversion efficiency, extending durability, and reducing the costs of MEAs are critical problems today that must be addressed for green hydrogen to fully scale according to EU plans. This project aims at validating the technical and commercial viability of the concept.
