Wood fuel with right moisture content can reduce emissions of CO, NOX, and particulates from CHP boilers, while increasing the boiler's efficiency.
Smaller CHP boilers constitute a majority of Sweden's existing boilers, found in sawmills and in CHP plants in smaller municipalities and in subordinate localities.
Radarbolaget has developed a solution for moisture content measurement on conveyor belts, which are predominantly present in connection with larger CHP boilers. Fuel transport solutions for wood fuel in smaller CHP boilers include scraper conveyors, fuel pockets, and screws.
The project aims to develop two prototypes for moisture content measurement for scraper conveyors and fuel pockets in collaboration with TEMAB, Tierps Energi & Miljö.
The project will also quantify energy relevance and potential reductions in greenhouse gas emissions based on possible fuel and boiler control. Additionally, the commercial potential and customer benefits will be clarified.
