Further development of geartechnology for heavy duty servo applications gives an opportunity to replace traditionel hydraulic controlsystems and actuators with electromechanic actuators combined with modern servomotors and drivers. The scope of the project is a fullscale prototype of a servoactuator.
The advantage with this technique is improved control of turbine significantly, individual control of guide vanes, high torque, high efficiancy, exact positioning of vanes according to reference from turbine regulator and fast respons in control loops. Side effects with the system is reduced predetermined maintenance, reduced corrective maintenance and a significant reduction of the amount of oil in hydro power plants.
