Viaeuropa intends to develop an Open Energy Sharing Marketplace based on an open energy protocol and a control module that circumvents the interoperability problem.

Large-scale implementation of flexibility services and local flexibility markets is hindered by interoperability challenges within the electrical grid, where equipment from different manufacturers struggles to communicate due to varying protocols, types of granularity, volume, quality, variation, and the value that data can offer customers.

These issues must be resolved to digitize the electrical grid cost-effectively and optimize it to handle increasing power requirements, which Viaeuropa aims to achieve.
