The project aims pre next stage (Demonstrator) to perform calculations with CFD, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), for the optimization of efficiency and shaft torque as a function of water flow and installation angle for a full-scale double Archimedes screw with input from the 1:7 scale prototype which was tested in SLU's freshwater laboratory at Ekerö and in Älvkarleby.
Furthermore, the project will highlight the commercial potential with customer benefit and market potential.
The design is intended to contribute to minimizing the losses in the Swedish hydropower system given the directives and laws introduced by the EU Commission and the Swedish government to enable fish migration in the waterways.
Thus, some expansion of the power generation capacity can also take place in connection with the installation of fishways with the twin screw concept.
