The project aims to develop and evaluate a new innovative solution where high-temperature heat pumps are integrated with thermal batteries to enhance the performance of heating and energy storage. We will build upon the prototype for a sand battery developed within the project "Microgrid with Sand Battery" (P2023-00243). This innovation will be optimised and further developed with the goal of creating an entirely new and significantly more efficient technology for heating the air circulating within the sand battery, thus greatly improving the performance of the heat storage system.
By optimising heat storage and extraction, the project will contribute to reduced energy consumption and promote sustainable energy usage. The expected results are anticipated to have a significant impact on the energy sector and pave the way for innovative solutions in energy storage and heating.
