The textile industry is changing as new laws and regulations for waste management, corporate responsibility, and GHG emissions are emerging.
Anticipating the change of demand in resource use, this project aims to be ahead of the curve and provide a solution to an increasing problem: driving systemic change in textile recycling by scaling up.
The project aims to increase the resource-efficient use of textiles by bridging the gap between pilot- and industry-scale nonwoven production, optimising logistics including sustainability assessments, and increasing knowledge and ability within the industry to transform into a circular economy. The focus is on complex textile waste streams from industry as well as the increasing pile of post-consumer textiles.
TexScale takes a pragmatic and hands-on approach by technical validation through demonstration projects and opening a debate about the challenges and opportunities in textile recycling through knowledge-increasing events.
