In the autumn of 2021, the new generation of electricity meters with a standardized and open customer interface and with almost real-time properties will begin to be rolled out by GEAB on Gotland. This enables power control for electricity network customers. The fact that control can take place automatically without being dependent on third parties or cloud services are important aspects for general acceptance.
The project will install and develop control units that can move power and free up space in the electricity grid for a larger number of electric vehicles and thus meet challenges 2 and 4 in the call.
The now emerging battery-powered vehicle fleet could be supplied entirely with locally produced electricity on Gotland[7]. In 2019, 630 GWh of fossil fuel was used for vehicles. The fuel can be replaced with 150 GWh of electricity. The goal is to establish actual control and find out if locally produced electricity can be retained and used to power all electric vehicles on Gotland
