From frying oil to biogas - A circular system on Gotland with benefits for the whole country

The project aims to validate a model for collecting frying oil that can be used for biogas production on Gotland.

The project will be based on a working model for collecting frying oil that McDonalds uses for its restaurants on the mainland, but will develop it to include smaller companies as well.

The intention is to show how waste that today creates major problems can be collected and transformed into a resource that in turn drives the transition to a more renewable transport system. Storage technology, vehicle types will also be analyzed and other types of waste will be evaluated.
